The Hive Box is a carefully curated selection of honeybee-themed items, ranging from raw honey and beeswax candles to handmade soap and beauty products, artisan food samples, and bee-themed paper or decor. The Hive Box Mini contains raw honey, a beeswax candle, and an extra bee-friendly goodie.
We work with a monthly theme to make it a cohesive experience that will delight and inspire.
We search for artisans making top-quality goods, we're one small business supporting other small businesses!
We also put a high priority on working with apiaries and beekeepers that gather honey ethically and responsibly, putting the health of the bees above all else. We recognize the very real threat that pesticides, antibiotic overuse, and other interventions can have on healthy hive populations and continue to learn more from our Beekeeping (Beek) partners, our community, and friends.

Please do not leave your Hive Box on the porch for too long if it is a sunny or warm day, or in colder weather. Honey will begin to crystallize (harden) faster if kept at temperatures 55F and lower. Which leads us to....
No! Honey crystallization is a normal, natural process that begins the moment the honey leaves the hive. All of the honey's properties are still fully intact. In fact, some honey will crystallize IN the hive! The more glucose content (one of the sugar molecules) the honey has, the faster it will begin crystallization.
Some people prefer crystallization over runny honey because it is easier to spread, and some people think its tastes better, too. You can taste both and see for yourself which you prefer.
In our Hive Boxes we aim to deliver honey that has not yet crystallized, unless it is infused or "spreadable." If it does begin to crystallize, you can do the following:
Spoon the amount of honey you'd like to recrystallize into a glass jar or bowl and place in a warm water bath, using a thermometer to make sure the water temperature doesn't exceed 100F. Higher temperatures will mean the honey is no longer "raw".
Please remember, raw honey is a natural food product. Variations between varieties, batches, harvests, and extractions will always happen.

Keep wicks trimmed to 1/4″ or less to prevent soot.
Ensure candle is kept clean and doesn’t gather dirt or excess dust. If dirty or dusty, carefully clean the top of your candle with paper towel or lint free cloth.
To ensure your candle burns cleanly across the top, burn it one hour for each inch in diameter or until the wax pool extends from edge to edge. For example, burn a 2.5″ pillar at least 2.5 hours, burn a 3″ pillar at least 3 hours.
Votive candles should always be burned in a heat-resistant votive holder just slightly larger than the diameter of the votive itself. If trimmed and burned properly, votives will burn completely with no wax left.
Tea light candles should be burned in their original containers or in a similar heat resistant container. Tea lights are meant to burn continuously until depleted, approximately 3 to 5 hours.
Use a metal tool to straighten a curled or tilted wick to the opposite direction to correct uneven burning.
Extinguish candle by pushing wick into melted wax pool with a metal tool to prevent afterglow and smoke.
Basic Candle Safety:
Never burn a candle that is not within sight.
Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents.
Never touch or move a candle when the wax is liquid.
Never burn a candle directly on or near anything flammable.
Always use a candleholder specifically designed for candle use.
Be sure the candleholder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
Trim candlewicks to one quarter inch each time before burning.
Make sure all candles are completely out before leaving the room.
Straighten the wick after it has been extinguished.
Please talk with your doctor.
